This month’s Friends of Uplands Park bird walk is coming up on Friday, September 27th. Let’s explore Cattle Point and Uplands Park which together make one of Vancouver Island’s top birding hotspots. We meet in the main parking lot at Cattle Point at 9:00am. We hope to see you there!

We are also excited to announce that we are offering a birdwatching course “Birding with the Brothers” on Thursday evenings this fall at Monterey Recreation Centre in Oak Bay.
Here is the course description: Birdwatching is more popular throughout the world than ever before! Join expert birder Geoffrey Newell and his brother Jean on the grand adventure of learning how to identify birds by plumage, shape, behaviour, flight style, vocalizations, and much more. The Victoria area is home to a rich selection of migratory and resident birds and is one of the best places in Canada to find rare species. This educational and interactive course includes 7 classroom sessions followed by a field trip to one of Victoria’s top birding hotspots.
We will also cover interesting bird behaviours, share tips on how to find rare species, and touch upon highlights from our birding trips this summer. Whether you are an experienced birder looking to improve your skills, or someone who has an interest and would like to learn more about them, this will be an enjoyable course for you!
