Shiny geranium (Geranium lucidum) is an alien invasive species that has begun to show up in Oak Bay and the CRD in recent years. This fast-spreading annual herb has the potential to threaten the endangered ecosystems of our region.
On March 16, help us to remove a patch of this plant while learning to distinguish it from other geranium species – skills you can use to keep an eye out for potential other populations!
Conservation biologist and restoration practitioner Wylie Thomas will lead you through this work, which will be done in service of our friends at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre.
Follow the signs to the restoration area. Please be aware that parking is extremely limited! Gloves and tools provided.
