David Newell announces two bird walks lead by Geoffrey Newell:
Join Geoffrey on Saturday, May 21 , for an exciting yet another spring migration Friends of Uplands Park bird walk. Please meet at 8:00 a.m. (an earlier time in the summer!) in the large parking lot out at the end of Cattle Point. Uplands Park is at the north end of Willlows Beach in Oak Bay. After observing sea and shore birds, we will head inland into the park to listen to and search for the many song birds in this fabulous Garry Oak Meadow Community.
AND
On Saturday, May 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m., Geoffrey will be participating in International Migratory Bird Day at Beaver Lake Park, organized by the Rocky Point Bird Observatory. He will be giving three walks at 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. If you would like to learn about the many associations concerned about the birds in the Victoria area, there will be several tented displays certain to interest you. The day is organized by the Rocky Point Bird Observatory, with participation by the CRD Regional Parks, and the Victoria Natural History Society. Join in the guided bird walks and the mist-netting, hummingbird and passerine bird banding demonstrations. There will also be crafts and games for younger children. We find this event to be very motivating.
