Uplands Park Bird Walk

April 26 @ 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
This month’s Friends of Uplands Park bird walk with Geoffrey Newell will take place next Sunday, April 26th. We will exceptionally have the event in the afternoon with a 3:00pm start in the main parking lot at Cattle Point. The species selection is amazing at this time of year with our winter residents still around, many of our summer breeders back, and spring migration approaching its peak. The camas and other native wildflowers add vibrant colours to the Garry Oak meadows in Uplands Park. All are welcome!
In addition, Geoffrey, Jean and family are hosting the spring bird course “Birding with the Brothers” which begins on May 7th at the Monterey Recreation Centre. Classes run on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm. Registration for “Birding with the Brothers” is now open through Recreation Oak Bay – by phone, online or in-person. The course will focus on the identification of our spring migrants and summer residents including warblers, flycatchers, vireos, shorebirds, raptors and more. I will also be sharing tips on how to find rarities and other target species and sharing highlights from recent trips and birding adventures. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Happy Spring Birding!
