Calling all Defenders of Biodiversity, Champions of Endangered Ecosystems, Lovers of Nature! (and people who just enjoy spending a few hours outside having fun working alongside some pretty cool people 😉

Uplands Park needs your help in removing invasive alien plant species from its globally endangered ecosystems! Plants like English Ivy, Scotch Broom, Daphne Laurel, and SO MANY MORE are abundant in the park’s sensitive meadows and surrounding forests.
These invasives choke out native plant species and alter nutrient processes, creating a feed-forward effect that helps benefit even more invasive plant recruitment. These devastating effects cascade up to harm pollinators, birds and other fauna. Removing these plants is the first step in recovering these ecosystems.

Join us every Sunday from 1:00 – 3:00 PM to learn how to identify and properly remove these harmful threats to biodiversity. We provide all training, gloves, and tools (with snacks at the end) – just come prepared for a couple hours of light to moderate work and a great afternoon outside in nature! All ages are welcome.

Meet at the Dorset/Lincoln park entrance (off of Beach Drive). Depending upon the conditions, boots may be needed to access the work site.
