Restoration Opportunities in Oak Bay Parks throughout October

Parks are extremely important in many ways, to our community and to the health of our park visitors.  Please consider helping to remove weeds with us and MAKING A DIFFERENCE.

Friday October 8 and 15 10:30 to 11:30  Meet Margaret at Cattle Pt by the Marine Kiosk.  You can help remove English ivy in an area of Fawn lilies smothered by ivy.

Saturday October 9 10 to noon Meet Christina Johnson-Dean on Anderson Hill.  Check our website for more information  friendsofuplandspark.org

Saturday October 9 1 to 3 pm  Meet Margaret on Dennison Road at the entrance to Walbran Park.  We will be removing invasive toxic Daphne laureola so that young St. Michaels students can remove the English ivy underneath it.

Sunday October 10  Cancelled for Thanksgiving…remember to give thanks for our natural environments.

Sunday October 17, 24, 31 1 to 3 pm  Meet FOUP at the Dorset entrance to Uplands Park, nearest Beach Drive.  Help remove weeds in the newly created meadow that Willows students have helped to restore.  The birds and insects love it as a restaurant!

TREE APPRECIATION DAY IS SUNDAY NOVEMBER 7.  10 to noon Bowker Creek Planting of riparian native species will be done to help restore the creek in preparation for the salmon introduction in February.  Talk to the experts and enjoy refreshments.
