At the 13th Annual GOERT Research Colloquium, Margaret Lidkea, Chair, Friends of Uplands Park, presented on the Canada 150 BioBlitz that was held at Uplands Park, on April 22, 2017, as part of the Canada 150 BioBlitz events. FOUP hosted this at Uplands Park’s Garry Oak ecosystem on behalf of GOERT.

Friends of Uplands Park Native Plant Planting Update – Dec 3-2017

On Dec 3-2017, Friends of Uplands Park volunteers scattered Garry Oak Meadow seed species and planted 216 forbs & gaminoids in one of the Uplands Park Restoration areas that had been cleared of broom in 2005. A lovely day for planting.

36 Hare Sedge (Carex ovalis)
18 Thick-headed Sedge (Carex pachystachya)
18 Western Rush (Juncus occidentalis)
18 Barestem Desert-parsley (Lomatium nudicaule)
18 Yampah (Perideridia gairdneri)
18 Pacific Wood-rush (Luzula comosa)
36 Self-heal (Prunella vulgaris ssp. lanceolata)
18 Western Buttercup (Ranunculus occidentalis)
18 Douglas’s Aster (Symphyotrichum subspicatum)
Seeds were also scattered that had been collected in the park in the summer of 2017.
