Geoffrey Newell sends the following announcements:
On Saturday, February 20, and Saturday March 19, join Geoffrey for another Friends of Uplands Park bird Walk. Please meet at 9:00 a.m. in the large parking lot out at the end of Cattle Point. Uplands Park is at the north end of Willlows Beach in Oak Bay.
After observing sea and shore birds, we will head inland into the park to listen to and search for the many song birds in this fabulous Garry Oak Meadow Community.
Interestingly enough, at the end of the last FOUP walk, we found a White-throated Sparrow at the bird feeder on the Camas Trail, off of Musgrave St. as well as 5 Brant and 16 Ancient Murrelets at Cattle Point….

Gum boots will be a good idea as the trails in the Park are puddly & muddy at this time of year. Blossoms and flowers start blooming in late February and March, so look for Satin Flowers and Indian Plum and maybe even some Shooting Stars.
